The Petrus is a rare quality wine produced in the wine region of Pomerol, near Bordeaux. This Merlot is often improperly called Chateau Petrus: There is indeed no castle on the property that have the vineyards.

But this is a small detail, because the Petrus has nothing to envy from its most noble cousins: it is considered one of the great bordeaux, at the same level of big labels such as Pessac-Leognan or Saint-Emilion.

Petrus produces an average of 4500  crates per year, or 54,000 bottles. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in cement tanks. The wine stays 21 months in brand-new new oak barrels before being bottled.

Ideal for fine palates that are already educated to wine tasting and for anyone who wants to taste a complex and important wine, you’ll find it in the new wine shop at Cianilugano!

Tasting  Petrus: a delight for the senses

Petrus meets the eye even before the taste or smell: it has an intense red color, slightly darker than its countryman Chateau Margaux thanks to the selection of Merlot and Cabernet grapes used for its precious recipe.

When opened, it  releases into the air the pervasive,  typical fragrance of Bordeaux, to give then space to fruity notes and a smoky aroma which are best enjoyed tasting it.

The blend of Merlot (95%) and Cabernet (5%) harvested strictly from 35 years old vineyards, explodes on the tongue in a symphony of delicate and nostalgic flavors, with a bitter and smoky touch that makes the palate dream keeping the mind well anchored in reality, ending with an austere aftertaste, almost noble.
